Traveling along the creative path is a privilege for which I am grateful. To see, feel, transform and produce gives

simple meaning to my over-analyzed life. Sometimes it is slow and plodding along the path, the ambient fog of

contemporary life inhibiting my ability to peer very far ahead. Then, suddenly, there is movement, the view ahead opens

up and my art feels abundant with limitless possibilities. My goals and aspirations along this road are to become more

present to the inspiration always available to me, to become more adept at expressing it visually, and to never stop.

Choosing from among the myriad possibilities, which idea to cultivate, knead, and offer to the ministrations of the brush give me simultaneously the most suffering and the most joy. Making choices, then living with the results, leads to momentary satisfaction followed by more choices. This constant motion rests from time to time in a completed painting.

Of all the subjects that I explore, the dichotomy of opposites sets up a continual struggle in my mind that can only be resolved obliquely. An asymmetrically arranged still life; the push/pull of light vs. dark; the urge to paint exactly what I see wars with the urge to be painterly; representational vs. abstract - each path taken provides a moment's calm, a temporary exhalation of held breath. But, then, inspiration calls, and the journey continues.
